Life is sometimes a bit of an uphill struggle isn't it? Sometimes, you just don't feel like smiling, sometimes you cannot see the wood for the trees, so to speak. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our daily routines that we forget to stop and look around us. Sometimes, we lose focus. When I'm feeling snowed under or consumed by life's busyness (is that a word? I don't know, but I like it) I force myself to look for all the positives in the situation and then I start to feel a little lighter. However, there are some things that never fail to make me feel happy and so for my own benefit (how selfish of me to use my blog to my own ends) I present to you...
My Happy Things
My girls. Yes sometimes they drive me nuts, but generally speaking, they still make me happy. I love some of the random things they come out with and the crazy conversations we have on an almost daily basis.
Dr.BD. From the moment we met, he has brought a smile to my face. He makes me laugh with his sense of humour and is just all round lovely. He gets extra bonus points for bringing me flowers regularly and putting up with my dodgy text gaffs.
Max! Is there anything that needs to be said here? I mean who could be miserable looking at that cute, furry little face? He really is adorable. He is also a fantastic foot warmer on a cold evening!
Cream teas (and afternoon teas - I'm not fussy). I do love a nice cream tea with friends. There's something about eating scones with clotted cream and jam that makes me feel like a real grown up.
And finally, (because if I don't stop the list soon, it will reach to the moon and back) sloths. Gorgeous, lovely, cute, sloths. I love these strange little creatures. I have been slightly obsessed with them for some years now. I have a pinterest board with nothing but sloths on. On the cuteness scale, they are right at the top with Max, our Little Orange Dog. Knowing how in love with sloths I am, my girls gave me the most amazing present for my birthday last year...this backpack:
I love my sloth backpack, but must confess I don't use it often as I tend to get funny looks. I had to have an x-ray earlier in the year and took sloth with me (I shouldn't have), the nurse thought it was fabulous and called us both in for the results of the x-ray; it was just a little embarrassing. Also, when I do use it, I cannot bring myself to put it on the car floor, as I do with my other bags, sloth has to sit on the passenger seat, or on Miss. L's lap. Oh my goodness, I can't believe I've just admitted that publicly!
So moving on from my confession, there you have it, my list of things that make me happy. Next time I'm feeling a little blue (when I've run out of chocolate, or teabags), I shall take a look at my list and I know I'll feel better.
What's on your list of happy things? Please feel free to let me know in the comments section, it can't be more embarrassing than my sloth obsession ;-)
What a nice idea to list happy things :) I bet it made you feel great!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly did Rachel. I think I will try and do something like this weekly. Have a great week x
DeleteCream teas would be me on my list too although I don't have them often. Your dog is very cute. Thank you for joining the #weekendblogshare
