Dr. BD Strikes Again

Poor Dr. BD, he probably gets a bit of a hard time on the blog, in so much that he rarely gets a mention. So to rectify this issue, here is a post all about Dr. BD and how super, amazingly, wonderful and perfect he is.

I mean really, I don't know what I've done to deserve such an amazing man. He is like a Superboyfriend. This man nearly always brings me flowers, which is great, us girls do like receiving flowers! He also cooks, very well. I am one of those people who has to follow a recipe the first few times I make something. I never experiment. Dr. BD kind of, makes it up as he goes along and produces the most amazing dishes. If I did that, I can almost guarantee the food would be inedible.

However, last weekend, he really did outdo himself. As I said in my Christmas Tree Festival post, I have had a cold for what feels like forever and was feeling particularly sorry for myself. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to see anyone, or just curl up in bed, but lovely Dr. BD offered to come over and look after me.

Before he left home he called me, took the number of my local Chinese Takeaway and then ordered us a meal to collect on his way. There's nothing quite like a takeaway when you're feeling a bit under the weather and, as it was a Chinese I had to have my ultimate Chinese comfort food, Chicken Chow Mein. I know, it's not very exciting, but there's something about those noodles and bean sprouts that just make me feel happy and well, comforted, hence the term comfort food 😊. He'd also got a lovely chinese curry, a roast pork dish and of course, some rice. It was delicious, especially as there was no cooking involved for me and only minimal clearing up to do, which Dr. BD helped with a lot (he is very handy in the kitchen).

Not actually our food, I forgot to photograph it due to cold

It didn't stop with the Chinese though, because he'd been thoughtful enough to bring me a G&T and a box of chocolates (both of which I'd joked the night before, would cure my cold). I was so impressed that he had remembered because I had totally forgotten and I don't often forget chocolate!

I have to report that sadly, neither the chocolate nor the G&T cured my cold, it's still hanging around a week later, but they certainly helped to make me feel a little better, and snuggling on the sofa with Dr. BD helped a lot too (cuddles are very important for poorly people).

I'm not used to having someone look after me when I'm feeling unwell; I'm a Mum after all, and we just carry on regardless, but having Dr. BD come over and do just that was lovely and made me realise what a very lucky girl I am.

Okay, so I may have exaggerated a little at the start of this post and it may have been a little tongue in cheek when I referred to him as perfect. He is absolutely not perfect (who is?) but he's perfect enough for me. He makes me laugh, he gets my 'off the wall' and often random sense of humour. He doesn't mind that I give my dog a voice and have conversations with him (it adds to his character - honestly). He is kind, thoughtful and considerate, but most of all he makes me happy.
