Remembering Dad's on Mother's Day

It's Mothering Sunday, the day where we say a big thank you to our mum's and hopefully get spoilt rotten, if we happen to be a mum. Up and down the country there will be mum's who have received flowers, chocolates, breakfast in bed and numerous other gifts and kind gestures and rightly so. Mum's are important people, we cook, we clean, we clothe; we take the role of nurse, teacher, taxi driver and counsellor. Let's face it, being a mum is a job with many roles and huge list of required skills, so getting a little bit of recognition once a year is lovely.

My girls were with their Dad this weekend, but came home this morning. Obviously, that means I was not spoilt with breakfast in bed, but they have both made me cups of tea and a jolly good job they did too.

They also decided to cook dinner for me. Now, whilst they are capable of cooking dinner, cooking without supervision is a whole different story, so I went with what I thought should be the easy option, chilli con carne. What could possibly go wrong? After five minutes the smoke alarm had gone off and Miss. D had managed to get half the packaging from the mince in the pan. Fear not, it turned out well and tasted pretty good; although guess who cleared up?

Anyway, whatever our children do for us today, it's the thought that counts; and talking about thinking, let's not forget that it's not just us girls doing the mum thing.

Yes ladies, sorry to burst your bubble, but there are some super amazing men out there doing exactly the same job as us. Some will be Stay at Home Dad's and some are single dad's, but whatever their reason or circumstance, they are doing a sterling job!

Yes I know these boys have father's day, but I'm not sure that's quite enough. I think they deserve a great big pat on the back and a huge thank you.  So to all you super dad's out there parenting full-time, thank you, you're doing an awesome job.

  1. You my dear are always lovely. The fact that you messaged me saying exactly this made my day. You are a beautiful mum but not only that a wonderful friend and person to mention dad's too on a day like mothers day. You may be a bit weird at times but im thankful that you're also my snoopy! Much love.

  2. thank you for this. I've always felt that mothers and fathers should be celebrated every day of the year, I'm not a big fan of these made up "holidays" meant to sell flowers. #triumphanttales

  3. As I am getting older I have realised days like mothers and fathers day and valentines day are making it seem like there should only be one day a year when we celebrate and recognise their worth but this should be done every day not just the one!
Thank you for linking up to #TriumphantTales
