Passion Fruit

Apologies to anyone reading this post and expecting a lovely informative piece on horticulture, you will be sorely disappointed. I am not well versed in all things flora and fauna, and have previously alluded to the fact that I can't even keep a simple pot plant alive. Nope this post is about gifts. To be more precise, gifts from my other half. It is not a rant, it is not a complaint because D, as well as being all round amazing, is super thoughtful and great at choosing gifts. So I guess you could say, this is a huge public thank you.

From the get go, D has bought me thoughtful little gifts...

The rose was beautiful and lasted for absolutely ages, as did the beautiful tulips. I love tulips so I was absolutely thrilled to received them, but it isn't all about the gifts (although obviously, given the post topic, we will return to them, shortly). It's about spending time together, chatting, laughing, snuggling up on the sofa watching Gumball and the Regular Show (yes we do that). Last night we spent ages discussing books we'd read, or not as the case may be; needless to say I have a few more added to my list of must reads. It's taking an interest in what the other person is doing, listening to them and feeling relaxed and comfortable in their company. Speaking of listening, that brings us nicely back to the subject of gifts, because D listens.

We recently had a bit of a random conversation about various fruits, I have no idea why, but we did and I confessed to loving one particular fruit, but never actually purchasing one (or at least not in its whole form). Me, being me, promptly forgot all about said conversation until last night when I opened the door to find D standing on the doorstep with a huge grin on his face and the fruit in question in hand. And so, ladies and gentlemen, here is the gift I received from my boyfriend last night...

...a pineapple! Yes I have never ever purchased a whole pineapple, thankfully there is a label on it telling me exactly how to cut it, which is a definite bonus. The coffee, is not for me, that's D's gift to himself, as in his words, my coffee tastes like 'S*&t'; since I don't drink coffee I'm sure he's absolutely spot on, but I'm not sure Douwe Egberts would be too pleased (nice jar though). Now, back to my lovely pineapple (it is a very fine pineapple, if I must say so myself), I am thrilled to bits with it. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it, I suspect it will end up being snacked upon by the three of us girls, but whatever it's fate, it is probably the most original gift I've ever received! So thank you, D for my pineapple, if you're lucky we might save some for you.

  2. Hi Lisa, how sweet (and I hope the pineapple was too!). I bet it wasn't just the pineapple that made your heart do flips, but the fact that D really listens to what you say. He sounds like a keeper!
