Me Time

Last Friday, I waved my girls off for a week's holiday with their Dad. It was an interesting affair. Miss. D was a bit stroppy because Dad was early (or something) and she was still trying to soak off her acrylic nails (which she had put on for her prom) and as any of us who have ever had acrylics will know, they are a bugger to get off and require more patience than most sixteen year old girls have. So when she left she was in a rush because, one cannot be seen with some nails on and some nails off, even if you are travelling from one home, by car, to another with no stops along the way. Miss. L wasn't super happy either, but for different reasons. She's not been too well recently and is currently waiting to see CAMHS after her holiday. She'd spent most of the previous week glued to me, which to be honest, has been rather nice, but it meant we had a few tears when she was leaving. After a bit of reassurance from myself and her father, she was off and even managed a little smile when Max waved her off with his paw.

So that leaves me with just the cat and dog for company, which should mean I get to do whatever I want to this week. By rights, I should probably take the opportunity to relax, unwind and recharge my batteries, which I will try to do, I promise, but first there are one or two things that I really have to do.

I have a heap of paperwork to catch up on and if I really want a break this week, I need to get my backside well and truly into gear and get my social media posts done and scheduled for Hugs (if you don't know what that is, go and check it out and be sure to give me a follow over there). Before I can do that, I need to prep for an interview.

Yep you read that correctly. I have an interview and I am not sure if I am nervous or excited. I've not had an interview for a good few years, well not a regular one. On the face of it, I shouldn't be nervous, I mean it can't be any worse that having to go to panel when I was fostering, which I can only liken to Dragons Den, but with more people. However, getting as far as an actual interview is a bit of a rarity for me. It's difficult as a single mum with no family etc. nearby to support me, to find hours that work. Needless to say, when the email came inviting me to interview, I had to do a mad rush to Next to buy something for my lower half that wasn't made of denim. That's the good thing about working for yourself, you can wear what you want and drink as much tea as you like without having to offer to make one for everyone else! Anyway, I'm a bit unsure about how this is all going to turn out, so wish me luck and I'll update you later.

Now Tuesday is going to be interesting. I have a sneaking suspicion that our Little Orange Dog is going to be having a bit of a rant this week. In fact, I know he will, because he is off to the vets to have his annual vaccinations. He doesn't mind a trip to the vet because he gets fussed by everyone and that's essentially what he lives for, but he's not so keen on having needles stuck in him or drops shoved, unceremoniously up his nose, but needs must and all that, and the vet always gives him a treat and a fuss afterwards, but as I say, watch this space, because he will be going for the sympathy vote...big time!

Once Monday and Tuesday are out of the way, I shall mostly be dedicating myself to the consumption of a whole lot of tea and finally getting round to finishing the book I started reading last month.

And because I will be missing my girls I shall be sure to use my 'I Love My Mummy,' mug. It's fair to say, that although they spend much  of their time in their rooms (being teenagers), it really is very quiet and I'm not entirely sure I like it. I've only done two dinner times without them, and much as I love the dog and cat, it's fair to say that what they make up for in cute fluffiness, they severely lack in the art of conversation and humour. That said, at least they don't talk all the way through TV programmes I really want to watch, so every cloud does indeed have a silver lining.

So that's the plan so far for this week. I'd love to hear what you're all up to this first week of the school holidays, why don't you let us know in the comments.

    1. Hi Kim. Interview went surprisingly well, as did the trip to the vets. Paperwork, well let's not talk about that.

  3. Enjoy your time. I know when I have a day to myself, it always goes too fast and I don't get as much done as I imagine, but that could be me. Hope Little Orange Dog's visit to the vet goes without drama. #MMBC
