Minecraft Mum

Yep, you read that right the first time. Yes I know you had to read it twice! Moi? Minecrafting? Mais oui! Don't ask why I just switched to French there, I have no idea either. To be quite honest with you, I have no flipping idea what I'm doing at the moment. This morning has seen me going up and down the stairs like a yo-yo retrieving things I've left downstairs in the kitchen, only to return to the first floor living room to realise I've not retrieved what I went for in the first place. It took me three trips just to retrieve my tea and then my glasses, the latter of which I went to fetch on my first trip! So, should I slip into a petit peu of French bear with, I've clearly lost my mind! Oh and before I forget, on yet another different subject (because yes, I am aware, I have indeed gone off on a tangent, again) I have also gone up and down the stairs, making up and filling a couple more packing boxes, so I have managed to be productive in my confused state.

However, having digressed so far, I feel it's time we got back to the point, for I am now a Minecrafter!

Minecraft - My House and My Dog, Snowy

Oh yes, Minecraft has been downloaded to my phone and I am building my house. As you can see I have gone for a lot of glass; I live at the foot of a mountain, so it would be wrong not to have all those windows to take in the view. I also have a cave system in my garden, which my youngest daughter kindly excavated for me, whilst I was attempting to build the house, which might I add, was not an easy task! I've watched Miss. L play and it looks easy. I've watched Pewdiepie play and it looks easy. I play and it looks anything, but easy! Poor Miss. L was getting really quite frustrated with my lame efforts, particularly after she'd laid my floor and I promptly dug it up again, by accident, might I add. Anyway, between us, we got the house more or less finished (I am considering adding a mezzanine level, hence my original statement of 'building, ' rather than 'built').

As you can see, it's rather a nice view of the garden, though I am feeling rather mean at the moment because it rains a lot in Minecraft Land and Miss. L has taken ownership of a dog in my land, but it will only follow her, so I can't get him in the dry. My dog on the other hand (Snowy) follows me everywhere, and unlike our real life Little Orange Dog, doesn't need to have his poo picked up because nothing in Minecraft poos (which is just as well given the number of sheep, pigs, cows, donkies and bloody llamas wandering around my garden). The little bugger (Snowy) does have a tendency to run off from time to time though, and he did manage to kill one of the random wild horses which was wandering around. Thankfully, he has not mauled my two tame horses, who are safely stabled in there own field.

By now, you are probably asking yourself why on earth a fully grown woman (or not so fully grown, given my last post) is playing Minecraft? That dear friends is a very good question, and indeed, it has an equally good answer, which is my youngest. Miss. L! Plain and simple. She's played Minecraft for many years now, she started on the Xbox and now plays on her phone. We started watching the Pewdiepie videos, from his Game Week. After we watched them together, she'd go and play on her phone and I was doing something else; our mum/ daughter time was over, which was a bit sad. That's why I downloaded it.  Now we get to do something together, she's not one for going out (she has anxiety too), so she's teaching me how to play. Oh and rescuing me. She's rescued me several times. I lost the black horse, she found him, popped a saddle on and put him in his field with his friend. She also freed me from a house in her land, because I'm not so good at manoeuvring my character through doorways and managed to get myself stuck, and she repairs everything I accidentally destroy, because I am a crap Minecrafter!

So there you have it. I am now a Mincrafting Mummy, albeit a pretty rubbish one, but I don't care. The best thing is, I get to spend time doing stuff with my teenage daughter and she's getting to share something she enjoys with me. She's teaching me for a change and helping me and it's the best time. Mind you, I still have a lot to learn, I got stuck riding a llama the other day, I haven't worked out how to get off yet, so guess who rescued me? Happy mining all!
